The body of an unknown woman was found in Western Canyon yesterday morning. According to KNX quoting LAPD, the remains were discovered by a hiker who had the unfortunate experience of 'smelling a very foul odor' around 11:40 a.m. about 100 yards off a path near the 2800 block of East Observatory Road.Unofficially, most authorities are fairly sure the woman was killed somewhere else and simply dumped in the park, so there isn't any kind of patron warning going out at this time. Stay tuned. We'll report any changes - if any - to this situation as it related to the safety of park users.
It is interesting that Councilman Tom LaBonge didn't rush to hold a press conference showing himself in command on this one.
