Budget LA was perhaps a bit long winded but it served its purpose of getting the Mayor's office in front of budget insiders to answer direct questions. Out of all the pontificating by officials as well as us average citizens perhaps it was the plain talking Julie Butcher of SEIU that scored the highest points. Her no BS explanation of the unions view whether you agreed or not was a refreshing break from the boys at the table who only knew how to drone on and on and on...

Thanks for that, Bill T. In my book, it's never a waste of time to engage public officials in a public forum on matters that affect the public. That said, the message has a tendency to get lost or marginalized when the same group renames itself on each issue without attracting a larger constituency or a broader coalition.
